Crusader III AA Mk. III - Italeri's N0. 6444, released in 2005
Made for the British army, this self-propelled antiaircraft gun was built around the
chassis of the Crusader tank, which, half-way through the Second World War, had
become obsolete and was unable to contend with modern enemy tanks. It was decided
to transform the remaining Crusaders into self-propelled antiaircraft guns by fitting
them with new turrets equipped with two 20mm cannons. This "antiaircraft Crusader",
of which few were produced, was then used by the British in Europe to protect
armoured divisions and troops.
