6 July 2016 : Today I am proud to present Model Maniac Page 89 - Part D. In this Part "Art Instructor" presents 5 new pieces of work, all of which are German WWII weapons.
Starting from Junkers Ju-87B "Stuka" 1:32 from Revell and Sd.Kfz.2 Kleines Kenttenkrad w/ Puppchen from Dragon, followed by Flakpanzer V "Coelian" and 88mm Flak36 both
from Dragon; then topping it off with 12.8cm Flak40 "Zwilling" from Takom. As always, I hope you'll enjoy viewing!
I'd like to thank for all kind feedbacks, compliments and suggestions that we received concerning Page 89 - Part C. They are very encouraging, and they inspire us to keep on producing quality models and dioramas and showing finest quality pictures. Comments and suggestions are welcome in my
Model Maniac Forum

635 - 652 : Dragon's Flakpanzer V "Coelian"
653 - 672 : Dragon's 88mm Flak36
673 - 702 : Takom's 12.8cm Flak40 "Zwilling"
and in my Facebook Group named Model Maniac
The 12.8cm Flak 40 was without any doubt the most powerful Anti-Air gun of WWII and this variant, the 12.8cm
Flak Zwilling 40 makes this gun a notorious bomber killer! They were mounted on the fortified anti-aircraft Zoo Tower
and they were also on other flak towers protecting Berlin, Hamburg and Vienna. The gun fired a 27.9kg (57.2 pound)
shell at 800 m/s (2,890 ft/s) to a maximum ceiling of 14,800 m (48,556 ft).
Compared with the 88mm Flak 18 & 36, the 128 used a powder charge four times as great which resulted to a shell
flight time only one-third as long. This made aim against fast-moving targets much easier.
The 12.8cm Flak 40 Zwilling, those are two Flak 40's built on one chassis, capable of firing 20 rounds per minute.
Used mainly on flak towers. Production started in 1942 with 10 twin sets produced, another eight in 1943, and in
February 1945 a total of 34 were available.
