Sd.Kfz. 138/2 "Hetzer" Early Version - Dragon's No. 6030, released in 1994

Sd.Kfz. 138/2 "Hetzer" Early Version
Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer was ordered by the Weffernamt from BMM in Czechoslovakia during the German occupation. This tank destroyer had a weight of 16 tons, and was armed with the 7.5cm Pak39 as the main gun. Production started in April 1944 at BMM, and was taken up by the Czech automobile company Skoda in September 1944. Both factories produced a total of 2,584 vehicles up to the end of WWII.

In general, the Hetzer was classified as early and late types, and differed in road wheels, panel hatch and Saukopf gun mantlet by production lots. It was a successful light weight tank destroyer with low production cost and simple mechanical operation. A lot of Hetzer were issued to many different units in the last stages of WWII. They were involved in hard combat actions on both Eastern and Western Fronts. Despite poor armor and a very cramped interior, it was recorded that a Hetzer even destroyed a Soviet heavy tank, the JS-2.
