BTR-152V1 - CKIQ's No. 209, released a few years ago

Manufacturing of armored troop-carrier "BTR-152V1" was launched in 1958 that appeared "BTR-152". Armored troop carrier is a military fighting three-axial armored machine with all the driving wheels, equipped with the 7.62 mm machine gun. The frame is made of armor, it's open, load-bearing, welded; it serves as a foundation where all the aggregates and devices are mounted. Carburetor 6-cylinder engine in 110 h.p. is located in the frontal part of armored frame.

The wheels have pneumetic tires 12.00-18". Armor troop carrier is equipped with control system of air pressure in tires, having internal supply. The tires with low pressure system of 0.5 kgf/sm2 as compared to the common ones showed dramatically increased level of cross-country ability at the roads in absolutely poor conditions. Air pumping system keep the pressure in wheels high enough for performance of task and machine exit from the fight after appearance of bullet-holes. It was the first armored troop-carrier that had the wheels with controlled pressure.

Automatic winch (hoist) is installed in the frontal part of the frame. Closing shutters are located in the lower frontal plate, 2 inspection windows are located in the upper rear plate. Entrenching tools such as saw, axe, spade, crow and tacking block are secured on the outside part of the armored troop-carrier's frame. Starting arm is mounted on the left plate of the frame, the axe on the right. Armored frame is divided into 3 sections: power section where engine and other aggregates are located; control section where control devices, equipment, the seats for commander and driver are located and fighting (landing) section with the machine gun, ammunition, spare parts, fire extinguisher and other equipment for landing.

"BTR-152 V1" is intended for transportation and defence of 17 paratroopers and team from machine-gun fire and shell-splinters. Besides machine-gun fire the soldiers had an opportunity to fire from personal weapons, through gun-slots in the boards. These armored troop-carriers were also used in the systems of KGB (Committee of Internal Security) and MVD (Ministry of Internal Security). The first armored troop-carrier "BTR-152" was produced in May, 1947. It had been used in the Soviet Army and the armies of socialist block for more than 30 years.
